The Practice Of Being Seen Community

An exclusive virtual community for therapists

You’re invited to join the Practice of Being Seen

An exclusive community for therapists who understand:

You must be able to see in order to be seen
You must look inside yourself to see the outer world

Explore your unique vision, develop your relationships, and hone your message

Connect with colleagues.
Connect with yourself.

Connect the dots between what goes on in society and
what goes on in your office.

What can you expect from your membership?

Together, we explore the practical and theoretical elements of being in private practice.
We strive to go deeper than we ever did in our graduate programs.

Rebecca will help you see yourself and discover how to share your truest self with the world. We'll discuss how to integrate Connectfulness principles in order to help you deepen your practice and stand more fully in your humanity. You'll learn how to use yourself as a clinical relational tool and set healthy boundaries in all areas of work and life.

Marisa will help you hone your writing skills and help you deepen your personal writing practice. When you craft your ideas into stories, you understand your own vision in a new way and you inspire readers in a way that straight facts and theory never can. You'll learn the basics of storytelling and get clear on that big question: how much of my story do I want to share?

Publication Opportunities

As a member POBS, you’re invited publish on our growing community-source content platform. The in-depth editing process will help you develop your storytelling skills and your writing practice long after we share your post!

When you commit to writing a guest post, you'll be working with both of us to prepare and polish your story.

Stories shape Relationships. Relationships shape stories.

What can you expect when you join our community?

Through our digital forum (yes, it’s a Facebook group) and coaching calls you’ll gain insights into how YOU are your greatest asset in your practice. This will help you in client sessions and it will help you develop your branding.

And, the Practice of Being Seen also offers something more… Together, we:

  • explore the theoretical and strive to go deeper than we ever did in our graduate programs.
  • learn how to transform ideas into stories that connect your true essence with the needs and interests of your potential clients.
  • delve into what’s happening in the greater world, how it influences our clients, our families, and ourselves. With a dedication to social justice, we talk about how to respond.

The Practice of Being Seen is a safe space to unpack and peel back a few layers of your story.

We gather together for the sort of in-depth, supportive conversations you just don’t find on the internet. In our group, it’s ok to be vulnerable and to share ideas that are still in process. In fact, vulnerability is essential to the special magic of our community.

With the support of colleagues from across America and beyond, this is your chance to find and strengthen your voice.

What do you stand for? What shadows do you need to acknowledge and explore? How can you take these insights and, yes, these fears and use them to develop your professional and creative presence?

We’ll use Connectfulness principles to help you notice and draw out these elements of your story. We’ll teach you Sovereign Storytelling techniques to help you write stories that matter to you and your audience.

A few things you need to know before you say “yes” to the Practice of Being Seen (because the goal is to make this something other than “just another group”):

This is not a place to promote your stuff.

We have a ZERO tolerance policy regarding client info in the Facebook group.

Contribution is essential to membership – some examples of “contribution” include participation in the Facebook group and showing support for fellow POBS members outside the forum by sharing their public posts and offerings.

As your guides, we are active participants in the Facebook group Monday through Friday. Members of the groups engaged at every hour of the week, so you can almost always expect to find someone to act as a sounding board or to offer a virtual hug. We promise you’ll find the greatest value in the conversations with your brilliant, supportive peers.

You'll also have a chance to appear on the Practice of Being Seen podcast and as a guest contributor at

There is a $222 yearly membership fee due at the time of application.
